First class and booking questions
Can I try a class before joining?
Yes. Choose an eligible class on the timetable and book a free taster. Your confirmation will show the exact class, date and time.
Which class should I book for my child?
Our children’s BJJ classes are grouped as Kids (4–7), Junior (7–10) and Youth (10–15). Check the ages shown on the timetable. If you are unsure which group to choose, ask us.
Do I need a membership to book a taster?
No. Book your taster first, then choose a membership if you would like to continue training.
Can I book for more than one person?
Each taster booking is for one person. Book separately for each person so their name is on the right class register.
Where is the academy?
Find us at Unit 8, 280 Tong Road, Leeds LS12 3BG. Your booking confirmation includes the class details and directions.
Can I start with no experience?
Yes. You do not need previous martial arts experience to book a taster. Choose an appropriate class and let the coach know it is your first visit.
Do I need to be fit before I start?
No. Many people start training to improve their fitness. Learn at your own pace and let your coach know about any concerns before the class.
What should I wear?
For No-Gi BJJ, kickboxing and MMA, wear a clean T-shirt or rashguard with shorts or leggings, without zips, buttons or studs. For Gi BJJ, bring your own gi from any gym or brand, or hire one at the academy for £5. Bring water and sliders or flip-flops. Shoes stay off the mats.
Can parents watch?
Yes. There is a viewing area where parents can sit while their children train.
Are there showers and changing rooms?
Yes. The academy has male and female changing rooms, toilets and showers.
Where can I park?
Use the free on-street parking beside the academy. Please leave the spaces in the two compound car parks clear.
Are uniforms compulsory?
You do not need a Scramble-branded uniform. For Gi BJJ, your own gi from any brand or gym is welcome, or you can hire one at the academy for £5. No-Gi BJJ, kickboxing and MMA use suitable training clothes. There is no separate grading fee.
How do I book for two children?
Make a separate taster booking for each child, using each child’s own name. You can use the same parent or guardian email for their confirmations.
